"Dedicated to Preserving Recreational Access Along the Entire Coast of British Columbia"

Imagine a paddling trail winding its way along the coast of British Columbia. From island to island and bay to bay, the Inside Passage of BC will host a series of campsites, resting areas and safe havens designed and cared for by the kayaker and the small boater. When connected, these sites will form one of the longest - and most spectacular, marine trails on earth.

The project may be massive, but its size should not be daunting. Throughout North America similar trail systems have flourished, successfully combining recreation and conservation values along rivers and coastlines. There is no reason similar success cannot be achieved here in BC, but with increasing pressures on our coastal resources, we must ACT NOW!

The BC Marine Trail Association (BCMTA) was created by Peter McGee in 1993 to establish a paddling trail from Vancouver to Prince Rupert - a distance of over 1000km. We have recently formed a partnership with the Washington Water Trails Association to link up Puget Sound - Olympia, WA to the San Juan Islands. This partnership creates a trail spanning virtually the whole Inside Passage, from south of Seattle/Tacoma, all the way to the Alsaka panhandle.

Maps of the areas are often included in the newsletter. Our periodical events and meetings will provide paddlers the opportunity to meet others with a similar interest in kayaking and our wonderful coastline.
